Veytrix AI

Keypad (DTMF) Agent

A keypad agent plays a short message and a menu, then acts on the number the person presses on their phone — snooze future calls, transfer to a real person, opt out, record a choice, and more. There is no AI conversation; it is a fast, reliable phone menu.

New here? A keypad agent is different from the other two agent types. Announcementonly plays a message. Two-way is a full AI conversation. A Keypad (DTMF) agent plays a menu and the caller presses a key — each key runs an action you set up. Use it whenever you want a quick, guaranteed response (a keypress) instead of open conversation.

How a keypad call works

  1. The agent calls the contact and plays your Welcome Message followed by the menu (for example, “Press 1 to confirm, 2 to reschedule, 9 to talk to us”).
  2. The person presses a key on their phone keypad.
  3. Veytrix runs the action you mapped to that key, optionally speaks a confirmation, then ends the call (or connects the transfer).
  4. Every keypress is logged under Insights → Keypad Activity, and any snooze / opt-out appears in the same place.

The six actions a key can do

ActionWhat it doesYou configure
SnoozePause future calls to this number for a while.Minutes to pause.
TransferConnect the caller to a real person’s phone. The number to dial.
Opt outNever call this number again (Do-Not-Call).
RecordLog the caller’s choice (confirm / cancel / rating / RSVP / consent).A label, e.g. confirmed or rating:5.
RepeatPlay the menu again.
Hang upEnd the call politely.

Create a keypad agent in Agent Setup

  1. Open Agent Setup and click New.
  2. On the Agent tab, set Agent type to Keypad (DTMF).
  3. Write the Welcome Message — what the agent says first.
  4. In the Keypad menu editor, write the menu prompt. Read the options out loud exactly as the keys are configured below it.
  5. Add a key for each option: choose its action and fill the action’s field (minutes for snooze, number for transfer, label for record). Add an optional “Say before acting” line to confirm the choice out loud.
  6. Optionally set the wait time (how long to wait for a key) and re-prompts (how many times to replay on no/invalid input), then Save agent.
Keypad agents ignore the LLM, Audio (STT) and Enginetabs — only the Welcome Message and the Keypad menu matter. Write the menu plainly; do not use{name}-style variables (they would be read aloud literally).

Where the responses go

Open Insights → Keypad Activity to see every keypress (phone, key, action, label, time) and every active snooze / opt-out — where you can clear a snooze early to let calls resume.

Start with the Appointment confirmation use case — it is the easiest to test end to end: set it up, place a test call to your own number, and press 1, 2, or 9.
